It Could Be You – Andrej Zupanc

How 6 months turned into 9 years.

My name is Andrej Zupanc, my mother is American and my father, Slovenian. I considered myself Slovenian because I lived there until I was 24.

I first came to Spain to study Spanish. I was working in a travel agency and they offered me a three month course in Malaga. When the course ended, my girlfriend thought about moving to Madrid and I came with her for a 6 month plan. That was 9 years ago and we’ve been here ever since.

What I like the most about living here is the afterwork life. This city gives you the opportunity to enjoy the culture, its traditions, the food and also, it offers you the chance to meet people from all over the world. And the next thing I appreciate the most, is the good weather. Those 300 days of sun every year makes a positive impact in your life if you come from a small village like mine in Slovenia, where we actually don’t enjoy that much sunlight.

I’ve traveled to several cities throughout the years. Barcelona and Sevilla were the places that impressed me the most. If I had to pick one over Madrid it would be Barcelona, mainly because of the sea.

My best experience living here was my first job, we had a great work team. The time I spent with them was unique and we became best friends.

Even though I feel happy living here, my life would be even better if I had the white wine from my father’s cellar, here in Madrid.

Great testimonial! As an expat in Spain, I also enjoy the sun, the kindness of the spaniards and the relaxed lifestyle I have on the coast: oh I almost forgot the food as well!! Crazy about jamon iberico and the tortilla de patata! If one day you are interested in buying a property in Spain, check out our site 🙂 http://www.ready4spain.com/en/
