As a Dutch girl, I am practically born on a bike. I can’t imagine how life looks like without my bike. As long as I can remember I have been riding my bike to go to school, to go to work and now I’m even working with/on my bike. On a daily basis I provide bike tours in Valencia. Most of these tours are conducted in Dutch as 90% of the participants are from The Netherlands and Belgium.

Why do I think Valencia is ideal to visit on a bike?

  1. The city is flat. This means that it is perfect for biking. There is no climbing, only cruising easily through the city and parks.
  2. Valencia is becoming a very bike-friendly city, as the mayor Joan Ribó is a bicycle fanatic. He realises many new bicycle lanes, like the circle around the historical city centre, which has only been finished for a few months now.
  3. The weather in Valencia is much better for biking, than I am used to in The Netherlands, therefor there is no excuse not to go on a bike.
  4. The highlights of the city are not that far apart, but too far to walk. On the bike you can see the old city, the modern architecture, the parks and the beach in one single day.
  5. You can rent a bike on almost every street corner. Many new bike-rental-shops opened their doors in the last couple of years. There are even city-bikes called Valenbisi that you can take on the streets. They are not very comfortable, but for short distances ideal and easy to use.
  6. Biking is a healthy and eco-friendly way to get around. Take care of yourself and of your surroundings.
  7. Last but not least, there are great bike tours in Valencia. We (I or one of my lovely colleagues) show you around and tell you about the city and its monuments, history, the people, typically meals and festivities.
