Summer’s already here and it’s time to start enjoying it and doing it justice. So, we’re going to suggest some of the most interesting ideas for your free time in these hot months: festivals, plays, shows, music and exhibitions are just some of the summer dates you shouldn’t miss.

PHotoEspaña 2017

Once again, this year Madrid will become the protagonist in the world of photography. The international festival of photography and the visual arts PHotoEspaña celebrates its 20th anniversary with more than 100 exhibitions, works by 514 artists and a score of activities that will take place in more than 60 national and international venues. If you’re enthusiastic about photography, make sure you go to this event which will enable you to discover the latest trends in photography and the most internationally recognized artists.

Bacon, Freud y la Escuela de Londres (Bacon, Freud and the School of London)

Organized by Tate London, with the collaboration of Malaga’s Picasso Museum, the exhibition Bacon, Freud y la Escuela de Londres presents the work of a group of leading painters who worked in the English city between the post-war period and the end of the 20th century with a focus on the representation of the human figure and the everyday.

Sorolla. Un jardín para pintar (A garden to paint)

Seville’s CaixaForum traces the evolution of the Valencian artist’s painting while he designed his own garden and watched it grow.

David Bowie Is

Barcelona’s Museu del Disseny (Design Museum) is hosting a comprehensive retrospective of the London star’s work. The exhibition has already received more than 1.5 million visitors in the 8 cities in which it has taken place.

The Valencian Institute of Modern Art aims to advocate the work of one of the most original and visionary Valencian creative forces in the Spanish artistic panorama: José Iranzo Almonazid artistically known as Anzo. The exhibition on display in Valencia is based on “Aislamientos” (Isolation), a set of paintings and engravings that he made between 1967 and 1985.

Santander Music 2017

Santander’s Campa de la Magdalena will host the event with the best in current music. Pop, rock and electronic music will take over the Cantabrian capital for three days. Los Planetas, The Vaccines, Lori Meyers and Sidonie head the bill for Santander Music 2017.

37th Cordoba Guitar Festival 2017

Jardins de Cap Roig Festival 2017

Huercasa Country Festival 2017

The Spanish country music festival par excellence is back in force. In this fourth year, Aaron Watson heads the line-up. There will also be performances from Shooter Jennings with Waymore’s Outlaws and The Cactus Blossoms.

Troyanas (Trojan women)

Directed by the dramatist Carmen Potaceli, this play tells the story of the women who were distributed by the winners of the Trojan War as if they were booty. This production has an excellent cast that includes Aitana Sánchez Gijón, Ernesto Alterio, Alba Flores and Maggie Civantos.

Dos más dos (Two plus two)

If you want a bit of fun, Miren Ibarguren, Daniel Guzmán, María Castro and Álex Barahona star in an entertaining comedy about couples.

Obra de Dios (An Act of God)

Mayumana. Rumba!

The famous company offers us a new show of music, dance and percussion, this time with songs by the duo Estopa, two brothers who specialize in Catalan rumba.
